2012 Dear Friends --

Fast forward 331 days.

We're now just 64 days out from the 2012 election, the country is buzzing, and tens of thousands of supporters like you are gathering in Charlotte, North Carolina, to nominate Barack Obama for President.

The 2012 Convention will be unlike any before it -- and I'm not just saying that because I happen to call North Carolina home.

The campaign wants it to be an event not just for the 35,000 who will attend, but for the millions of people across the country whose values it will reflect. For the first time ever, supporters like you will have an in-depth look into what's going on in Charlotte and unprecedented access to the nominating process itself.

That's the first reason you should sign up today to get updates from the 2012 Democratic Convention. The second is that when you do, you'll automatically be entered for a chance to join us at the convention in Charlotte less than a year from now. We'll pay for your flight and hotel, all you have to do is say you want to be in the know between now and then.

Will you sign up to be part of the 2012 Convention?

In 2004, I met then-State Senator Obama at the Democratic National Convention in Boston. It was the night after the speech that catapulted him into the national spotlight.

When I greeted the future president he looked at me and said, "I don't have a seat."

Four years later I watched him accept the Democratic nomination for the Presidency of the United States in Denver.

It was a powerful moment for a lot of reasons, but for many of us who were there, the point was driven home: It was so important that we were nominating a candidate who reflects our hopes and our core values -- someone who's looking out for all Americans, not just those with the most money or the most power.

As a native North Carolinian, I couldn't be more proud to be hosting next year's convention in Charlotte, a dynamic community that reflects the diversity of our country, and of this campaign. We promise this will be our party's most inclusive convention yet.

But that can only happen if you decide to be a part of it.

Sign up today to get 2012 Convention updates, be the first to get news and know about behind-the-scenes events, and find ways to get more involved. You could even get to fly out to Charlotte and witness history in the making.
